Review : ipod bluetooth autoconnect - here's the deal
I was about to rip this out of the dash and send it back - but it just got a new lease on life. As multiple reviews have stated - the unit does not automatically pair with iphones via bluetooth out of the box - but it can be done. the following worked for me. I am still not sold on the unit, as it does not recognize my iphone/ipod consistently through USB - but I will keep it a bit longer to see if I can make it work 100%:

FINDING THE "AUTO CONNECT" SETTING - First, you need to pair the device manually using the bluetooth settings on the ipod, next, have the audio source set to bluetooth on the clarion - and then hold the "D" button on the bottom right of the (Clarion) unit until it brings up some options ("clock"), etc - click the right arrow until you see the "Auto Connect" feature. Turn it to 'off' and back out of the menu - turn the unit power off and back on - go back to "auto Connect" and select 'on' - now it should sync up automatically.

I believe, explains the few gripe respecting Clarion CZ500 In-Dash CD/MP3/WMA/AAC Receiver with USB and Bluetooth not fitting or leaking.
