Review : Soundlinq2 SL2i hardware good, software very poor
I bought the SL2i version of the adapter for my Toyota Prius. It works well in the sense that you don't have to mess with supplying power through a cigarette lighter outlet, but the "advanced" user interface through the builtin screen of the car leaves so much to be desired that I disabled it and now only use the adapter in "simple" mode, i.e. through the iPod controls. Here is why:
1. I don't want to have to create play lists but choose on the spot what I want to hear.
2. If you don't use playlists, you can either select an album from the album view of the display--in my case that means slogging through 800+ titles--or select an artist and play all the albums by that artist stored on your iPod--in my case that means having to play all 15 Beatles albums that I own.
3. Slogging really is slogging: you have to keep pressing the virtual "down" button on the display until your album title or artist appears; there is no "fast forward" as there is on the iPod itself.
